5 SIGNS IT'S TIME TO CHANGE YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE

We know finding a reliable and beneficial personalised skincare routine can be one of the most daunting tasks. After many blogs reads, trials and errors and consultations we stick to one routine and changing it again might be a tedious process. But with the natural ageing process and changing external factors, our skin’s needs also change. Some people tend to stick to the same routine for years together unaware that it loses its effectiveness and attributes skin problems to other wrong factors causing more damage to the skin.

We understand it’s hard to embrace change and tougher in the case of skincare but we should learn to adapt to changing needs and for skin this is more than important. Here are 5 signs you need to look out for when your skin might be telling you to change your routine and find a new one.

  • THE SKIN DEVELOPS TINY BUMPS
Our skincare routine might cause small hard white bumps mainly around the eyes and on the forehead. These bumps are not our usual pimples but they are a medical condition called milia. Don’t worry, it is home-treatable and majorly caused by moisturising products. Milia might be an indication to change your moisturiser or moisturising routine.

  • YOUR SKIN IS EXCESSIVELY OILY OR DRY
Either too much dryness or oil on the skin is problematic. Certain ingredients in combination with others can cause dryness. Random dryness might be a sign that your products are not working well for you now. On the other hand, using certain exfoliates or cleansers might cause excessive oiliness. Generally, people with oily skin avoid moisturisers but skipping it for a long time can cause excessive oiliness as well. Either of them is a clear indication to check your skincare routine and change it accordingly.

  • IT IS MORE RED THAN USUAL
Redness is the sign of inflammation. Generally, a little red (rosy pink) kind of colour indicates healthy skin but more than that might be because of other reasons like your pimple medication, hot water and extra exfoliation. Changing some of your skincare procedures might solve this issue.

  • THERE’S REGULAR SENSATION OF BURNING OR IRRITATION
Even a little bit of burning or irritation on skin is the indication of discomfort. It may be because of some allergens or the food you have introduced in your diet or over-exfoliation. The stinging and burning sensations are generally caused by inflammation on the skin. Try to see your skin’s reaction with every product and change which causes discomfort.

  • IT IS BREAKING OUT MORE THAN USUAL
Generally, breaking out skin suddenly is attributed to puberty but if you have crossed that age and suddenly you see pimples on your face it might be because of skin purging. It might be caused by hydroxy acids or retinoids in your skin products so look out for them and change your products if needed.

So consider the causes of your skin conditions and think about changing up your routine. Flawless skin is merely a skin routine away!
